Business Valuation & Advisory

I learn your business before I put a number on it.

Most valuation firms run your financials through a model and send a report. I take the time to understand how your business actually creates value — the story behind the numbers — before I value it. It doesn’t take long. It takes intention.

I cap the number of engagements I take on. That’s not a marketing line — it’s how the personal attention is possible. A report factory can’t know your business; someone juggling dozens of projects can’t either.

Built to AICPA & NACVA standards. Defensible for transactions, disputes & the IRS. Adversarial stress testing on every report.

Why this matters

A valuation is only as good as the understanding behind it.

Two businesses with identical financials are rarely worth the same. The difference lives in things a spreadsheet doesn't capture: who your customers really are, what would happen if you stepped away, where the next dollar comes from, and what a buyer would quietly worry about.

High-volume firms run on throughput — junior analysts, templates, and as many reports out the door as possible. The owner's story gets lost, and so does the nuance that determines value. My work runs the other way: a capped caseload, a conversation before a data request, and a senior valuator (me) on every file from first call to final number. The result is warmer to work with and more rigorous — a conclusion built to professional standards that holds up when someone serious starts asking questions.

The Process

Focused, defensible, and built on knowing your business.

STEP 1 — We talk first

Before any numbers, we have a conversation about how your business works, where its value comes from, and what you're trying to accomplish. This is the step big firms skip — and it's the one that makes everything after it accurate.

STEP 2 — I analyze with context

Your financials are normalized and benchmarked against your industry — but read through what I've learned about your business, not in a vacuum. That's where the real drivers of value, and the real risks, become visible.

STEP 3 — I pressure-test the conclusion

Every conclusion gets stress-tested against the questions a skeptical buyer, lender, or auditor would ask. You get a number you can defend, with the reasoning laid out plainly behind it.

STEP 4 — You get the clarity you can act on

The result isn't just a figure. It's an understanding of what your business is worth, why, and what would move that number — delivered in language you and your advisors can use.

Engagements

Right-sized to the question you’re trying to answer.

Benchmarking Opinion — $999

A grounded sense of where your business stands — a starting point when you need direction more than precision.

Calculation of Value —- $2,975

A focused valuation for planning, internal decisions, and conversations with your advisors. Sufficient for most official purposes. Sale to employees or family members, IRS filings are typical use cases.

Conclusion of Value — $5,590

A full, maximally defensible opinion of value built to the full extent of available professional standards — for transactions, disputes, and official needs. Lender financing is a typical use case.

Value Forward Advisory — $7,495 (5-day sprint)

For owners thinking ahead to an exit: a strategic look at how to grow what your business is worth before you sell.

For advisors

CPAs, attorneys & financial planners

When you refer a client, your name is on the recommendation. You need a valuator who will treat them well and produce work that survives scrutiny — not a vendor who returns a templated PDF and a confused client.

Because I cap my caseload, referred clients get the senior attention you’d want for your own. Every engagement is built to AICPA and NACVA standards and stress-tested before it leaves my desk, so the conclusion is defensible if it ends up in front of a buyer, a court, or the IRS. Reach out and I’ll walk you through how I work.

Let’s start with a conversation.

Tell me about your business and the situation. There’s no cost to the first conversation, and no obligation — just a clear sense of whether and how I can help.
